Oct 19 Update
Good evening:
I am sorry for the delay in getting this note out. I was waiting to hear back from the Doctor to give more clarity.
Monday, the hospital did a scan of Dennis’s lungs and head. The good news is that there are no clots anywhere. However, it was discovered that there is a new consolidation of pneumonia in one area of his lungs. That explains the rise in his white blood cell count that they found late day yesterday as well.
He was started on an antibiotic treatment this morning to get a jump on the infection. As well, they took samples of his blood, urine and sputum to rule out any other source of infection.
Dennis came into hospital with atrial fibrillation and that is still a bit of a prayer need along with the infections. They are starting him on a new drug to reduce the erratic beats and that should help balance his blood pressure as well.
There is the improvement to his kidneys, his system is working well that way.
The bleed from his stomach has cleared.
His blood sugar is very stable for the last 3 days. In a good range.
His body is a bit slow in clearing itself of the paralytic drugs and the sedation. That and the higher doses of morphine and other pain drugs have accumulated in his body. The pain meds have been reduced a lot and that should help to let the body clear that out. They will be watching and hoping that he wakes more in the next two to three days.
The prayer focus would be for this secondary pneumonia to be stopped in its tracks, for his heart to come into a better rhythm, and for him to wake.
Abigail is stronger, still fatigued.
I am getting some naturopathic treatments to recover a bit more as well.
Now, in closing I do want you to know how we value the prayer and the notes you leave on the website. I get to read them, I have not been able to reply but I treasure them all.
I might not send out notes daily from this point on. I don’t always have immediate news and it might work a bit better if I send them every other day.
I will be working on ways to call his spirit man up more. Abigail is going to help me put music on one of my old phones and I can play that to Dennis. I think it will help a lot to have worship going in his room.
Know that you are loved.
Gratefully,
Katie and Family
